We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring to our customers this marvellous collection of art in a wide variety of media, many of which are available for purchase at this one-of-its-kind exhibition. Coinciding with Pride Month, we present 70 works of art from over 40 artists from all areas of the queer community, and from all parts of the globe.
As Gary Wright, exhibition Curator, says “The Atlantis Bookshop has always been a place of safety for occultists. It was where you could gently go and find your magical tribe – your community of magicians, tarot readers, witches, druids etc. Some well-known people have been patrons of the shop – Aleister Crowley, Austin Spare, Doreen Valiente, Dion Fortune, Gerald Gardner – and anybody within the occult community has always known and supported the shop.
However, what isn’t so well known is the shop has always been a great champion of the queer community, what is now called the LGBTQ+ community. It’s equally been a safe space for people of all sexual orientations and identities to come and be welcomed.”
