Sean Jefferson’s life, from a schoolboy dandy ‘Edwardian Esotericist’ to Fine Artist has been a surprisingly straight line as Magic was the path he followed. A degree in Microbiology and the strict discipline of scientific observational drawing and methodology have been applied to his artistic practice. Mediumship led to Automatic drawing led to Austin Osman Spare. The Western Mystery tradition, Dr Dee, Surrealism, 1970’s LP covers, Amsterdam in the ’80’s and the rural calm of Cornwall by the Millennium are all visible in Sean’s work. His was the first solo exhibition in Moscow where there wasn’t a KGB member on the Hanging Committee and he has had several successful ones here in the UK too.
