An Evening with…Dr. Thomas Waters

Cost £10

To coincide with the release of his new book “Cursed Britain”, historian Thomas Waters discusses the enduring power of witchcraft, curses and black magic during the modern period. Few topics are so secretive or controversial. Yet, whether in the early 1800s or the early 2000s, when disasters struck or personal misfortunes mounted, many Britons found themselves believing in things they had previously dismissed – dark supernatural forces.

Dr. Waters, a historian at Imperial College London, has spent well over a decade researching this eerie but also extraordinary subject. He’s uncovered a wealth of new information about everything from the witches of Victorian England to Dion Fortune’s experience of physic attack and the continuing resonance of evil magic in the contemporary world.
