2026 e.v. marks the 122nd anniversary of Aleister Crowley’s ‘discovery’ of the so-called ‘Stele of Revealing’ in the Cairo Museum in 1904; a two and half thousand-year-old funerary Stele of an ancient Egyptian priest called Ankh-f-n-Khonsu. Since then, the ‘Stele of Revealing’ has become an icon of Thelema.

After a quarter of a century researching, chronicling, drawing and painting the Stele, Thelemic writer and artist Gary Dickinson explores, through letter and line, his own enduring fascination with this masterpiece of ancient Egyptian art in an exhibition entitled, Rediscovery.

His first exhibition for over a decade, Gary is presenting new work supported by a monograph, Rediscovering the Stele, which will enable everyone to create their own personal version of the Stele, together with archived material.

The exhibition will feature Gary’s new interpretation of the Stele based on Crowley’s own record of his initial impressions of the object he saw in Cairo, which he recorded in his Book of Results. New works will include, amongst others, reconstructions of the imagery that decorates the interior of the inner coffin of Ankh-f-n-khonsu.
